Tim F. Wray
Tim Wray provides advisory, operational management, and investment capital raising to Family Endowment Partners clients. He oversees the Advisory and Private Equity due diligence team, while also helping to source private equity transactions. Tim is involved in all aspects of the pre- and post-investment process including due diligence, transaction structuring and negotiation, and management and operational oversight.
Previous Experience
Tim has experience in a broad range of industries including healthcare, media, retail products, energy, financial services, chemical, manufacturing, VoIP and telecom services, and automotive. Prior to joining Family Endowment Partners, Tim served as interim CFO for Creditex Group Inc., an inter-dealer brokerage firm focused on CDS products. While leading corporate and operating structure development, Tim and his finance team dramatically increased the size and scope of operations through the execution of two acquisition investments and the launch of two greenfield subsidiaries. During Tim’s tenure, Creditex transformed from a niche player to the largest provider of electronic trading in its industry.
Before joining Creditex, Tim worked for Questor Management Company.
This 16-person group, with over $1.1 billion of committed equity capital, executed leveraged buyout transactions of troubled, underperforming, and bankrupt middle market companies. With a colleague, Tim initiated Questor's distressed debt acquisition strategy, which led to successful acquisitions in the industrial and retail sectors. Tim's transaction teams managed all aspects of the investment process.
Prior to joining Questor, Tim was appointed president and CEO of U.S. Plastics Inc. (USP), to transform what was an overleveraged and poorly managed, mid-sized plastics company. Tim initiated and led the restructuring of officers and the board of directors, eliminating absentee and passive management, implemented an operational turnaround plan, and significantly reduced the company's debt through financial restructuring. USP was subsequently sold as the "perfect fit" to a large competitor.
Prior to joining USP, Tim was as a member of five U.S. National Rowing Teams. His teams won three gold medals at the U.S. National Championships and five gold medals in international regattas. Tim also won two Collegiate National Championships as an undergraduate.
Education
Tim received his Master’s degree as a Sloan Fellow from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and his Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Princeton University.
